Dangerous Heater Parts Recalled

In 1997, Cadet Manufacturing in Vancouver, Washington, issued a recall notice on some of its electric in-wall heaters. The heaters contain limit switches that have been identified as a fire hazard by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Several hundred thousand of the faulty heaters had been installed in houses and apartments in the Pacific Northwest and the Rocky Mountain states between 1985 and 1992. A small percentage were sold under the brand name of Encore. Only heater models containing the letters FW, FX, LX, TK, or ZA and containing a limit switch made of black plastic casing and located on the heater assembly are subject to the recall.
